One of the great things about living in London is the variety of events you have access to. Things you simply wouldn't have the opportunity to experience back home.
A classic example of this is the Naked Cycle Tour held one weekend recently in the centre of London. An event not to be missed. Basically the 'tour' is a protest against the oil industry and a way to promote the use of cycles as an alternative form of transport. Personally, I think it's an excuse for people to get their gear off in public.
Anyway, Susan & I and Maree set off to Hyde Park to see the start of the protest. We arrived with enough time to see everyone making their final preparations, i.e. getting their clothes off, putting the final touches to any body paint they wore etc.
Did we see some sights or what! I saw things I didn't want to see and hope to never see again. Their was a little too much sausage for my liking, plus there were a few people who simply should never go naked.
There were quite a few guys who were enjoying themselves a little too much if you know what I mean. But it was interesting to see the size of the crowd who turned up to have a look - again mostly males and a few dodgy characters too - and the way everyone just let it all hang out without a care in the world. There were a few brave guys too and they didn't even have the excuse of a chilly breeze to cause shrinkage.
There was a group of woman standing to the side of us who were having a great time grading all the guys. A great amount of laughter heard and finger pointing to be seen.
Later in the day we crossed paths with the tour as it was making it's way through London. There were a few people who didn't quite appreciate the spectacle of seeing naked people on bikes. One woman was spewing obscenities at the cyclists as they passed and made her daughters turn and face away from the road. We thought her behaviour was far worse than what the kids could have seen. They just giggled away and kept peering over their shoulders to grab a peek of what went by.
Hey Susan, I bet you and Pete were disappointed you didn't have any bikes with you!!

Well it was tempting to hire some rollarblades and join in. But no need to cause a frenzy.
